:usaf: Where would you love to go Treasure Diving?

Hi everybody

Im leaving for the air force, and I really want to get into diving to search for treasures, wrecks, relics, etc etc. I havent yet left for basic and i am not sure where i'm going to be stationed, but i want some ideas for my dream sheet (places i would like to get stationed)

I want to go overseas out of the U.S. and i figured you guys might have some insight into some great places i might be able to go to find wrecks or places to dive to find precious valuables.

also want to hear your guys dream dives, where would you love to dive? for any reaason, or to T/D.

:beers:

Top of my list:

-North Africa (Libya, Tunisia, Algeria). Roman and Carthaginian wrecks should be all over that coast.

-Persian Gulf (Somalia, Yemen). Should be rich in wrecks but too dangerous because of political instability.

-South China Sea. The Chinese treasure fleets would have surly lost many ships in that area but it's it's huge and pirates would make it too dangerous to work.

North Africa should be doable but might be sketchy. Libya needs friends now since they are trying to join the "world community". The other two areas that I mentioned are ones that I salivate over but are too dangerous to work.

thats an amazing list!

some really great ideas.

ive always worried about diving in places where people might come and steal your boat or attack you or cause problems while you dive. thats just scary and an unfortunate side effect of humanity.

and those damn pirates are always trying to steal your booty!

Definately the rivers in the New Guinea High lands, for native gold nuggets, my favourite treasure! While I would love to do it, I think the danger is much too real to even attempt it. HH regards Nugget.

i live in the uk and have worked most of the uk,s big rivers, the best results came from english cathedral towns. york , durham, and scotland figure high on the list of sites i most want to dig. if i can ever sell my house i intend moving north where they will become a reality!
