I just bought a 4X First Gen. + ATN Night Vision Scope and have it mounted on a STEYR FN-FAL, in 7.62 NATO.
I have had good luck before with the old Winchester Silver-Tips and Power-Points in bolt guns, but everything I have
now is just military ball [FMJ]. The scope has a recognition range of 400 meters with the small illuminater
it came with. With a Mag-light or Q-beam the recognition range far exceeds the 147-150 grain bullet
external ballistics. I've been reading about bullets like Berger makes with a ballistic co-efficient of .900+.
I figure 800 meters is the max range I will need in the rice fields.
(Anyone recommend a particular bullet/powder load? This rifle seems to prefer 180 grain bullets as a rule,
but there are exceptions.)
Who knows, maybe the Big Foot Swamp Monster will show up!:yikes::lol:
