Us Buckle found in area of Louisiana civil war prison camp, in searching outer surroundings of camp location . I found that camps are within 1/2 ml. And found this , not in good shape but has lead and 3 hooks .Just washed it only .... what would be done to preserve for display with out damage? Any and all replies ,are usefull in in saving history on this relic .
Thank to all Richard Crawford

I usually clean it with water and a soft brush. If the lead is real flakey I usually soak them in pure vegetable oil for about 24 hours and wipe dry.Hope this is some help to you.
