US Army button?

Hi,
First post for me. So It is really pleasure to "meet" you all!
I have followed your discussion and I have to say that it has been very helpful and interesting. Thank You!
I purchaced my MXT a month a ago. Went few weeks after to my parents backyard (old farmhouse). First impression was that MXT was really noisy and that I was digging only trash :-( ! But then on the next day I came up with buttons (please see the pictures). Not from very deep but it didnt matter. I found something!
On the other side there was the manufacture(Waterbury Buttons). From their pages I think I found the similar button. Unfortunately there wasnt much more info .Do you guys have any deeper knowledge where are these used and is they used by some specific unit and most of all how old are they.
BTW I live in Europe/Finland so it was big suprise me that I found US Army buttons from here?!
If somebody of you have more knowledge I would really appreciate your comments!
Sorry that this text is so long!
Yours Sincerely,
Pekka
ps. I found in same place 5 other buttons aswell so it most likely indicates that it is somebodys button collection which has been lost there.

Pekka
Those are nice finds. Yes, they are US buttons BUT I do not know much about them, someone else will know for sure as they appear to be common ones.
What I would like to point out is that sometimes uniforms with buttons has been lost/buried for whatever reason and the fabric has long since deteriorated and the buttons are left. It may have been someones collection, or just a lost uniform.
I have read in the past where some folks had found a button and then detected more in the same area a few inches away and then a belt buckle and then bullets and then they realized the whole person was buried there when they found the bones too. I am not saying he was buried intentionally, but buried on its own over time.
It is one of the best parts of metal detecting when we try to figure out HOW and WHY something was found where it was.
Thanks for posting the pics.
Tony

For us "barb wire" users.... Your picture takes way too long to open. Lower resolution will not change the view of the photo. It will only affect prints.

Hi,
I am sorry with the resolution. Can I somehow replace the picture with low res. pic. or do I need to make a new post?
Br,
Pekka
BTW is this right forum to ask about finds which you do not regognize yourself?

I think ther are very similar to the one I found and if so its a great seal button (around 1900 untill WWII).

Peku,
This is the right Forum. We all would love to see your finds. There is a Relic Forum on Findmall as well that might be able to answer your relic questions better.
But don't leave us!... Sorry about the resolution thing. I believe I am the only one that addresses this issue and it apparently doesn't bother others as much as it does me.. So forgive my impatience...
I usually post pic's with reslotions from the 80's to around 130 KB. They seem to load pretty quick.
When a picture loads slow I feel like a kid in a candy store that has been promised candy but has no money... <img src="/metal/html/tongue.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":b"> I want the candy now!!! <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">

Thanks Chris!
Yes they look exactly the same!
Although mine is not glittering anymore. What did you use to clean your button?
BR,
Pekka

No Problem Johnny B :) ! And Thank You!
If I found more I will use low resolution pictures.
I hope I found more! I have done metaldetecting now for three summers and I am really hooked for this! Was that the right verb? Unfortunately I do not have enough time to practice detecting. That was one reason I was so happy (&supprised) that I found something with MXT so quickly.
Happy hunting to you too!
BR,Pekka

Hi Tony!
Yes I totally agree. It is the best part of this hobby that you try to figure out that "how and why".
I still myself go for that button collection.I belive in Finland (very north Europe) there were never uniformed US soldiers (althoug we were in war against you guys in WWII), only Red Army was giving us hard time.
But I will try to sweep the place againg and lets see what is the result.
BR,
Pekka
