Urgent information for anyone near Colorado Springs! Or if you know a hunter in that area? Please read!!

Shouldn't take long to put a detecting ban on it now once the flock descends upon it. :throw:

If I sound jaded, its because I've already been through this. Had a nice old homestead town near me that was good for detecting and picnics. Just a nice place to spend the day at, either for a family picnic or a detecting trip. Then somebody needed to see their name in print so they wrote a story about it for the mag (believe it was Lost Treasure). After it went to print the flock descended and now the place is fenced and posted. Not only it but all the individual homesteads around it. What gets me is the guy did a follow up hunt and article about the place a couple of years later and seemed confounded and bewildered that his little spot was no longer assessable. Just didn't seem to sink in that he himself was responsible.

Moral of the story...once a site location get publicized to the general public that site is lost.

Can't say HH on this one.

I figured it would all be back under water in a few months. Once under water this site would be lost to hunters anyway. Just think of all the Corps. lakes that swallowed up 100 year old towns and houses. I would have liked to had a few months to hunt there before it was all under water. I understand where your coming from but this site could be lost to water for years to come? I wouldn't give up a town or park for all the reasons you had mentioned. This I understand. Sorry if I offended you?

That's why I keep my trap shut. I have only one guy I hunt old ghost towns with (we pair up for saftey). Nither of us tells anyone about it; not even other friends and family. This hobby is enjoyable. Not everything needs to be posted on the net. Hey just change the names and locations if you want to spin a yarn.

I'm just sayin..

Ken

The town was talking about flooding the lake from an upper resevoir to fill it back up. I figured not many, if any knew about this dry lake? Just trying to help some local hunters maybe find some goodies before it's under water. Next time I'll keep it to myself.
