Urban Prospecting Results

It is pretty ironic given my previous post on Urban Prospecting at http://www.findmall.com/read.php?27,1770062 that I ended up finding not one but two jewelry items with gold nuggets on them on my recent outings. I found more gold nuggets than I find many times on the creeks and a prime gold ore specimen to boot! The picture pretty much says it all.

I used a variety of detectors in a variety of settings. Parks, beaches (in water and out), volleyball courts, and school yards. My White

Wow, Steve that is an excellent weekend hunt!!! On my last trip to Oz, I met a biologist that works the storm drains in the the big cities...his finds of jewellery were quite amazing...Using the prospecting detector for urban hunting is an excellent way to get practice duting the Off-season...and to learn one's machine.

Just curious how many pull tabs you dug?

I loved them snow pile areas where the casinos and ski resorts dumped the snow to melt as always golden to me in Reno/Carson City and tahoe-great finds Steve-John

In the case of the little gold ring I only dug a few pulltabs before I hit the ring. Most times all I do is dig pulltabs for a couple hours. I just got a very nice men's gold band, and that ring read solid pulltab. If I had not been digging pulltabs I never would have got the ring.

It amazes me how many 1970s tabs are still in the ground. People obviously do not like digging them and tune them out. Which is good for me. The worst thing for me is to hit a Imelda and get no pulltab readings. It means somebody has hit it and hit it hard. Still worth hunting for recent drops but frankly I get bored digging nothing. A steady diet of pulltabs keeps me going.

I admit sometimes early on they are too thick so I will just pass up the most common types the first pass or two but eventually they just all have to go.

I will post a couple pictures soon.
