upgrading my compadre

I looked up the switchcraft parts and they are still current so i plan on puting a connector on the compadre so i can use difrent coils i have no other choice im so broke let you know when im done

Unless you are relic hunting I would just leave it alone. I have a variety of machines and the wife's Compadre does very well with the 5 3/4 coil. I am Consistency amazed at the depth that she gets with it. It also hits on very small Targets like very small Ear rings. Bill in Texas

where can you buy switchcraft parts in australia?or is it for american's only?can any five pin plugs and sockets do the job? if i wanted to put a bigger coil on my compadre. here in australia you have the option on buying a compadre to have a 5.75" or 8" coil fitted. sometimes i kinda like to have a larger coil on it.i suppose the easier way would be to buy a silver umax.what do you all think? blowfly

I would consider the Silver UMax..I have one, plus a Vaquero..To be very frank about it,I have no problems taking either one hunting..However, to gain experience, have used the" V " more before Winter closed in. With the Silver not requiring modification to change coils, you don't void the warranty..The Silver does very well on small gold ( ear ring posts) just above where nails click out,,,,and even better on all metal...Still use the standard coil, and looking for a 5.75 incher to get into some trash laden areas...Cordially NAD
