Upgrading Equipment

I don't have the funds right now, but I would like to upgrade my detector someday. I currently have the ACE 250, and it is a nice detector for what it is, but I am the kind of person that is always wondering what I am missing. I would like to have the F75, but was wondering how much difference there is between the F75 and the F70. Is it worth the extra $300-$400 for the F75? I know a lot of people will say that the F75 is not for those that just want to turn it on and go. I am okay with that, I enjoy figuring out stuff and experimenting. I am not really a park/tot lot type person, I am more interested in old home sites and would like to get into the Civil War areas.
Thanks for your input.

Depth and over all performance, both the 70 and 75 are much the same. For relic hunting, I, and many others, really like the je mode as it has more sensitivity then the de mode and the F 70 does not have the je mode. Also, the f 75 comes with the DD coil which is better in trashy spots and high mineralized ground then the stock coil on the F 70. The various modes are easy to set up on both detectors. The learning curve, if you want to call it that, is getting to know what the detectors are telling you. The 70 and 75 are very sensitive, so one does hear everything. I have the F 75 and it is a really good detector and a real pleasure to swing. HH jim tn

So... if I bought the F70, I would probably wish that I had bought the F75. I thought that would be the case. Thanks

Folks that use T2 often consider the T2 to be comparable with the F70/75 and really the F5 could be lumped into that group as well (I believe Dave Johnson was behind all 4). The bigger difference though is the coil. The large DD is what is going deep and probably cutting thru the minerals. I just like that this group of detectors lets you switch from a monotone informative beep to a multi-tone id beep. .
