Upgraded Coil for modded Compadre's???

Question is, what Tesoro or after market coils can be used with a modded Compadre that can accept other coils? Will any & all 5pin coils for Tesoro's work or just ones for certain models?

All 5 pin Tesoro coils will work on a Compadre, but from what I have read from people who have tried the mod, the 10x12 DD doesn't do well on the compadre. If you try the clean sweep, post your results please. I am having my compadre modded and would like to know if it works as well as on my golden max.

I have used 5.75, 7", 8", and 8x9 cc coils. They all worked well. I also tried 10x12 dd and CSC. They weren't so hot. I didnt get much depth out of either. Cant explain why. I have the 10x12 for sale right now but may have to give it another try.

I'm no electrical engineer but, I think that with the Compadre being a single battery unit. It just doesn't have the power to handle the larger coils and that might be where it's loosing depth.

As far as I know all the micro max line use one 9 volt.

I've read where one person said they were hitting quarters at 7" with the CSC on a maxed out Compadre.. if there is any truth to it, who knows..

I'll try and find the link to the post.

It makes a difference in the depth of the Compadre... if you can not get a functional ground balance using a bigger coil than stock. The Compadre lacks the outside controls to get a good ground balance like a threshold based all metal mode and an outside the case ground balance control. If you know how to "power" ground balance and like to fiddle with the dinky GB trimmer inside the case, then you might see some gain in depth.

i have used the clean sweep coil on my compadre as well as my conquistador that also uses a single 9 volt. it seems to work fine for me. i personally love the clean sweep coil i tend to use it more then any other coil on my cortes compadre and conquistador.... its hard to say if you loose depth unless your using 2 detectors at the same time and can compare them.

n/t

Have tried all 5 pin coils on my compadre the cleansweep coil stays on it. Yes its not the deepest coil but it sure loves the jewelry. Will give me a repeatable signal on a dime at about 6" after that it starts to break up. I use my compadre with the csc more than any of my other detectors, my xp-deus hates it.

Edumucate me folks............looking to get my daughter a Compadre but was under the understanding the Compadre you cannot change coils that it was a fixed unit????? You folks are talking changing out coils so I am curious to say the least. I am new to a Tesoro and trying to get all the facts in. Thank you.

There are people that have modded them so they can switch coils.
It voids the warranty but these are so cheap nobody cares about that.
I have an older hard wired 7" coil model, the newer 8" coil and the standard small coil units all work very well and any would be good for your daughter.
The small coil model is the lightest if she is young and easiest to pinpoint because of the coil size but all of them weigh so little a helium balloon could carry them away and they all pinpoint like a laser so no pinpoint button needed.

Thanks folks......that is what I suspected on the mod and warranty going away. I was struggling with the 5.75" vs. 8" version.

My Deus hates playing second fiddle to the CSC too but that is what payed for it so tough!
