Can anyone tell me if I need to upgrade to a beach detector?. I have a whites mxt,but would it be better if I got one of whites beach detectors? I would hunt on the beach and in the shallow water. thanks!

I own a MXT and like it very much. If I could hunt beaches on a regular basis I definitely would own a beach detector. They are made to handle the salt conditions, and you don't have to worry about getting them wet. Besides most jewelry is lost in the water. Rob

Do you need to? No.........Should you? Yes, for a couple of reasons. The MXT should work fine on dry sand, but dual frequency water machines like the Beach Hunter ID will make beach hunting more enjoyable, better depth and less noise, especially on salt water beaches. . Hunting in the water? It only takes one slip, stumble or trip to dip your MXT in the drink. With a waterproof detector, you could also get out in deeper water where people swim and are more likely to lose jewelry. Nice used BH ID's can be found for $400-$450. The bad thing about the BH ID is the coil is buoyant. What were you thinking White's?
