Upgrade?

I currently have a Bounty Hunter Quick Silver and I want to upgrade to a Garrett Ace 350. I really just got into metal detecting last year and though I find a lot, I feel I'm missing a lot too. From the posts I read, I gather, it doesn't really matter the metal detector, because they all find "metal", it is learning the machine that is key.

I know there may be some bias in this forum, but does this upgrade make sense, and what do you like most about the Garrett Ace 350?

Thanks

Sometimes it just where and how you hunt determines what good finds you may find. Not so much the machine. I don't know anything about your machine. But the 250 or 350 would be a great choice.

I can only recommend the Ace 250, as it is the only Garrett I have owned. Great machine, I made some incredible finds my first year out with it.

The ACE 250 with the 9" x 12" coil is a real killer in both depth and sensitivity. I also have the sniper, which really does well in playgrounds, along sidewalks with rebar and chain link fences. I presume the same conditions prevail when put on a ACE 350.

I had a quicksilver a few years back, and found lots of coins with it. I used it every weekend, got to know it really well, and found lots of current coins, but nothing else. I have had a 350 for about 5 months now, and so far I have found almost 50 wheat cents, several silver quarters and dimes, and 3 gold rings. I'm not sure that it isn't just a coincidence, but I have had much better luck with the 350. It does go quite a bit deeper than the quicksilver will. If you get a 350, you will be very happy with it.
