Monte,
Thanks for the advise. Back in Sept. 2001 you helped me decide on getting the Silver uMax. Since then I have made many great finds.
Now it's time to upgrade. I'm trying to decide between the Eldorado and the Tejon to use at Cape Cod beaches and old home sites. Although cost is not an issue, I'm wondering if it's worth it. I recall you stating on another forum that the Tejon will give only 1-1.5" more depth. Also, what about the learning curve of both machines. Any comments (as in the past)is greatly appreciated.

Certainly, dollar outlay has to be factored in. For some, they don't care about the cost, initially, and can 'afford' the Tej

Thanks Monte,
Right now I'm leaning toward the Eldorado with a 7" coil. Plus, any coils I get for the Eldo I may be able to use on the Silver. Currently, I sometimes use a 4" on the Silver which works fine.
I've often wondered if an Eldorado with the 12x10 would give the same depth as the Tejon?
Thanks again for the response.

On the question of the 12X10 Eldorado being as deep as the Tejon. I really don`t know.
I can say the price of the coil, since I already had an Eldorado. Seemed quite a bit less than the cost of a Tejon. So I bought one.
I have not yet had the time or beeping weather to draw any conclusions. Though it seems to work pretty well.
I talked to several people who were useing the 10X12 and on coin size targets they said they gained 1-2 inches.
I honestly doubt that it would beat the Tejon.
I have seen the Tejon reach some amazing depth in Iowa soil. And it all goes out the window if a bigger coil is put on the Tejon.
However the Tejon is a very busy machine. It seems to hit so many targets that it is hard to sort them out.
If I were to get one it would be to do clean up after I had run the Eldorado or Cortes over an area to get the shallow Targets first.
Truth is I am very please with the performance and depth I am getting with my Eldorado, and don`t see any reason to change at this point.

the Eldorado for a number of reasons;
1) Most of the sites I hunt are public places and the Tejon may be too sensitive in any high trash areas.
2) I currently have the Silver so any coils I get for the Eldo can be used on both.
3) I remember a post by Monte stating that the Tejon got 1-2" more on average than the Eldorado. Perhaps I can achieve that with the 12x10 Eldorado.
4) The Tejon may not be the best detector for salt water beaches.
Thanks again for the responses.
