I just wanted to post this for the users of Prizm machines and for people who have not purchased a detector yet.
I recently purchased an MXT because i felt i have out grown my Prizm IV. The ground is frozen here at this time and the detecting fever is driving me crazy LOL. I took my MXT outside to a spot where i more or less "picked clean" with my prizm (give or take a couple of cold stones).
I had the 950 coil on it.So i turned it on and went to bounce the coil to get it balanced too many targets. So i walked over near the highway and tried again.I hit a clean spot and got my new Bday present (MXT) fired up. I walked back over to my so called clean area (where i first tried to ground balance) and made a sweep with the 950 coil. IN ONE SWEEP i had at least 30 hits. They were so close together i had to change coils. After reading alot of posts on the forum i learned to purchase a 4X6DD Eclipse coil also.
SO,,,,,Back outside i go (this time i am taking a gun to a gunfight instead of a knife LOL). Remember, this ground is frozen rock solid,to i am just checking out my back yard. The 4X6 coil worked sweet and separated the targets like it should.
It was like my yard had never been detected before!!! I see many hours of removing all kinds of items, I will dig everything.I need to do this so i kind find the deeper historical items being masked.
So,,in so many words. If you are going to be a "First Time Detector Owner" get an MXT instead of anything lower. It is NOT a complicated machine with 30 different settings. It is sweet and simple. But be prepared to get down and dig.(i hit iron at 12 inches and i am dying to find out what kind of old relic it is this spring...Happy Hunting Gang !!!
