Upgrade Garrett Ace 300

Hello I was hoping someone coule give me some advise.
I have a garett Ace 300 with a crossfire 2 coil. I more or less completely use it on beaches of Ireland. It is my first metal detector and i have found it a good introduction.
What i was wondering is can you upgrade this machine buy buying individaul pieces fior it eg a different coil and are they all inter changable.
If they can be upgraded can you recommend a coil or screen that would work more efficently on a beach.
Sorry if the terminology i used is not correct but Iam new to this great pass time and all help would be gratefully appreciated

If it uses the Crossfire 2 search coil, then you can use any of the Ace 250 compatible search coils. For searching a wide open salt water beach, may I suggest that you use the 9"x12" Rhinotough Elliptical Concentric search coil. There are many others to choose from. Including the 8.5"x11" DD, 6.5"x9" Concentric, 5"x8" DD, 4.5" Sniper.
Have fun! Good luck! Happy Hunting!:)

He, with head of metal, is correct...sort of. Any of the coils for the GTAx series will work as well. That would be the 7 x 10 and 10 x 14 DD coils too. The 10 x 14 will help with the mineralization that you will encounter at the beach and give you more coverage per sweep. But it does love bottlecaps!!

Oh yeah:rolleyes:I knew that:blowup:I musta just had a brain cramp.

Hey, one o'the best (deepest) coils you can get for that machine on the beach would be the old 12.5" Crossfire 2 search coil. If ya can find one. They haven't been made for years, but they're floatin' around out there.
In my experience beach metal detecting, if mineralization is mostly positive (alkaline/salt) then a concentric search coil is best because a double D will false more often. However, if mineralization is mostly negative (black sand/ magnetite. iron) then a double D search coil would be most beneficial. May I suggest the Excelerator 10"x14" DD for Ace series. It's ALOT lighter in weight than that Garrett 10"x14" DD and goes just as deep.:detecting:
Happy Hunting!:)
