upgrade from XLT,and Fisher F4

I have a Spectrum Xlt in good shape and a F4.got a little money coming back was wondering should upgrade the Xlt to a DFX or F75, F70.

I like the Xlt maybe even love it, but all I hear is Dfx this Dfx that plus it seems it and the MXT are the only one that whites is making new coils for.

I bought the F4 more for compition hunts and the fact that it breaks down further and can fit in a smaller space than the Xlt.

Anyway thought about selling the Xlt and going with the Dfx or F75 would take other suggestions.

I posted this in your thread in the whites section as well, but im glad you posted here as well, anyway here is what i babbled.

Good question Pulltab, I also use a F4, and my friend has let me use his XLT which I enjoyed and think I could get used to.

I was leaning towards the XLT as my next detector come tax time.

I am now kinda looking at the F75 or the new F70.

I have been back and forth back and forth on the whites machines (mxt/m6,xlt,dfx) but have kinda passed over the F75.

I know I like my F4, even though I bought it before I really knew what I wanted, it will continue to be used by my wife or by me as an alt.

I dont want to even imagine what my wife would say if i bought, say an M6, and then 3 months down the road wanted a XLT/DFX or F75 regardless of the resale value.

I am just trying to decide what detector would be best for me based on my limited experience and others opinions. Not that it is a bad thing, but brand loyalty seems to run pretty deep once you spend money on one and have some success with it.

I love hearing from the guys who have bought lots of diff brands in diff price ranges and love posts like these. Thanks and HH

Whatever you do, don't get impatient. Wait and see the reports as they come rolling in.
When people start useing the F5 and F70...we'll all hear about it. Curious to see what
kind of review Andy from New Mexico will write up.

I guess part of it is that whites almost seems like they're abandoning the Xlt, Meaning no new coils, last year they released that super 12 for the DFX.
and MXT, and nothing for the Xlt

Just makes me wonder what the future holds for it. I don't want to get left holding the bag.

all you hear is DFX this and DFX that just wondering is it that good or hype.
I know the F4 isn't on par with the xlt like i said I wanted it for competition hunts for the lite weight. I thought if I went with the F75 maybe I could get the best of both worlds .

i used the xlt and loved it.Bought a dfx and dont like it at all, my find rate as dropped. The t2 and f75 seem to be the way to go and im saving for one of them.

PULLTAB,I AGREE WITH ROBERT ROY. WAIT TO SEE THE TWO NEW FISHERS COMING OUT. I DO NOT WANT TO KNOCK OTHER BRANDS,BUT OVER THE YEARS IT SEEMS THAT WHITES AND MINELABS TOP MACHINES ARE ALOT HARDER TO LEARN THAN THE FISHERS,THAT IS UNTIL THE F-75 CAME OUT.WHEN I WENT TO SEE IT THE DEALER HAD ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS TRYING TO GET IT TO WORK. MY BROTHER IN LAW JUST BOUGHT A DFX AT CHRISTMAS TIME AND THE DVD THAT CAME WITH IT IS ABOUT 2HRS LONG.MOST PEOPLE INCLUDING MYSELF DO NOT WANT A SUPER COMPLICATED MACHINE. HOPE THIS HELPS.

I guess its all comes down who you talk to as many XLT users were not happy with the DFX and vice versa....
It seems to be a love hate situation with the F units as the same goes as above..As far as the F-4 basically an entry level unit that you can't expect to outperform the top of the line units...I personally did not like the DFX and the T-2 did not impress me so would advise you to wait for more feedback as the XLT seems to be meeting your needs and of course the F-4 pricewise has its place and many do well with it...
