We made it home saturday afternoon and I went back to work on Sunday, so I haven't had much time to catch up on all the posts. I have managed to read the prayer requests and a few of the CMD forum hunt posts. We were at Myrtle Beach all week and were blessed with beautiful weather. I mostly stayed inside with Brian, keeping him company, while Carol and Sarah spent time at the pool and beach with Carols family. Brian couldn't even go on the beach or swim because of the threat of infection. We did get to play miniature golf several times. The owners wouldn't charge me for Brian and the last day we played they insisted I play for free as well. If you ever get to Mrytle Beach, be sure to visit Mayday Golf. It is a beautiful putt-putt course run by super nice people. I believe their web site is Maydaygolf.com. I pushed Brian in the wheel chair and then he would stand on his right leg while I steadied him, so that he could putt.
I managed to go out every night but the last night to metal detect the beach. I would start around 10:30 and stay out until about 2:00. I spent most of my time on the wet sand at low tide, (Thank you, Jeff, for the tide schedule you sent me, it was a blessing.) I didn't find any jewelry, only some clad dimes and pennies. Oh yeah, and a couple of rocks that read like gold signals. I am now known as the Charlie Brown of metal detectorists in my family. "Gee...all I found was a rock!" I finally gave up on the wet sand and detected the soft dry sand picking up enough change to replace my batteries. Even though I didn't find much, I really enjoyed walking along the shore barefoot with the wind whistling through my headphones. Gee...this post is getting long.
Brian had his stitches removed today and got to swim for the first time this summer at a cousins birthday party. Carol said she practically had to drag him out of the pool he was having such a good time. He will be on a walker for a couple more weeks before he can put full pressure on the leg. Until then, he can put enough weight on the leg to balance himself without the use of the walker. The doctor was amazed at how fast Brians leg was healing. Carol said he mentioned a couple of times how strong it looked in such a short time. God has answered your prayers, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
The first pic is an award Brian got for being the golfer of the day. He had a choice between a trophy and a t-shirt and he chose the trophy. He sure was proud of that trophy. Those folks just made his week, it was a real blessing. The lady presenting the trophy is Diane, and I think she must be an angel. She shared with me that she lost both her husband and her 37 year old son to cancer over the last year. Please say a special prayer for her.
Bian later asked me if he got the trophy because he was in a wheel chair. I told him that wasn't the reason, but that they gave it to him because he has the courage and heart to make the best of his situation. Diane was really touched by Brian, and the second day we were there was her day off, but she had accidentally taken the rest room keys home with her and had to return them. We were on around the 12th hole when here she came and said they told her Brian was here and just had to come and get a hug.
Sorry this post is so long. I won't get to post much with my work schedule like it is. I am going to try and hit the 90 acre farm again soon.
Also, Brian has surgery on the tumors in his face on June 23rd.
Thanks, and God Bless all of you,
Doug
