Well I put the 950 on and so far I like it though to date I am only finding chump change made in the 60's. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I have the MXT tracker is this a good unit? I was finding mega beer and pop tabs with the DD. I am presently working the area of an old motel that sits at the edge of a lake and that according to the locals, has not been in operation since the 80's. Though the main complex is fenced off there is plenty of sidewalks and grass areas outside the fence. I hope this isnt a waste of time to work these sidewalk egdes. Any suggestions from any of you guys. Should this be a good area to work or no?

That should be a good spot to find coins unless someone has already hunted it hard . I liked the DD coils better in the trashy area's but the best coil for you is the one you like to use the best . The machine is half the hunt finding the right places to hunt is the other half and it takes time to learn the better spots in your area and time to learn a machine well . Take your time listen to your machine and watch your targets till you learn what your machine is telling you on the different targets . If it was easy from the start everyone would be doing it . It took me about two years before I started finding the better stuff like silver coins and older targets it took me awhile to really learn what I was doing out there in the field .You can read about it all day but nothing replaces practice and learning in the field . I use to hunt a park and like you all I found was newer clad for a year or more then all of a sudden I began to learn where to look that wasn't normally hunted and this year in that same park I took out 4 war nickels and a mercury dime and a bunch of old nickels and this is a park that's been hunted hard for years . Every year I seem to improve my hunting skills . the 950 is a great coil but is harder to use in trashy area's the DD will get between the trash better in the trashy area's. Good luck and good hunting and keep your hunting fun or you will get tired of it ,remember its o a hobby .

Number one: You've got to have your coil over the coin to get it. Number 2: There's got to be silver there before you can find it. Number 3: What was there before the motel was built? Have you done your research? The 9.5 coil is a good all around coil. If there's silver to be found, your MXT will find it. Yes, you've got yourself a good unit. Take your time and HH, Nancy
