UPDATE RICK CHITTUM SCAM

Ron Brown

Member
Nov.30/09, Rick Chittum , aka subzero007, posted an Excal for sale on this forum stating it was mint, not a blemish with less than 4 hours on it.
Dec.1/09, I bought it and paid $736. for it paid in full by Paypal.
Dec.14/09, I received the detector
Dec.15/09, I shipped the detector back because it was not in the condition he stated and he agreed to refund my money.
Dec.29/09, Rick received the detector back.
Jan.10/10, Still no refund, said he had problems.
Jan.12/10, Hadn't heard from him so filed paypal dispute where he acknowledged he owed me the money.
Jan.18/10, Rick payed $75.00 into my Paypal account, leaving a balance of $661.00
Jan.24/10, Told me through paypal he would pay the balance in four weekly payments of $165.25 on these dates, Jan.29, Feb.5, Feb.12 and Feb19th.I have not received any of the money owing and he has not contacted me nor will he answer his phone.

This man has over 80 posts on this forum so I figured he could be trusted. So since Dec.29/09 he has his detector and my money also, less the $75.00 he paid Jan.18.
How long before I send a posse after him?

I had a deal with rick. It was a trade my detector for his laptop.....The laptop was not as he described. He isn't honest and cant be trusted. He also made some threats since is a big bad marine....My opinion is go after his sorry ass. Take a shot at him for me while your at it.

Rick has now contacted me and has made partial payment today after my post of the problems I've had with him. I believe he'll make restitution in a timely manner. This forum is for reporting bad transactions as well as good ones. I'm hopefull now that this one, despite the setbacks, will turn out to be a good one.

Sorry to hear of your trouble. Good thing Paypal is involved.

I personally never had any dealings with this person.

But your experience is not at all uncommon but most buyers on here just let it slide to avoid the hassle.

I'm working on a situation right now from a detector off this forum's classified section.

Over the last 3 years I've bought/sold/traded about a dozen machines and about half of the machines I received had serious issues not declared. One cost me nearly $100 to fix.

Just a follow up about Rick Chittum scamming me out of over $700 in Dec./09, see previous post. He still owes me over $500. and can't be believed about paying up. I haven't heard from him in two weeks and would watch out if you come across him selling anything. He goes by subzero007 on the forums, and also chaseteam1@yahoo.com.

BE AWARE!!!!

I am now looking into fraud charges as well as a collection agency. Why does a man want to do this to himself for a few hundred bucks???

Oh, if that guy is reading this ........ SHAME on you. I didn't post anything on the forum about it until now. But sent him an email. Sad,sad,sad...............hope you learned something :) *I didn't bash this guys in his email either folks* I just mentioned his mistake and moved on :) **this is about that XLT Sunray probe that had a short in the coiled cord**

I am more curioius why PayPal hasn't stepped up to assist you. First, they should have froze his account. this is their rules not mine, then they should have pushed him to make the payment as asked. To many people put faith in PayPal, they are not in anyones best interest except their own. Have you contacted your states attorneys office? How about the attorney genral's office? They love cases like this.

Chuck you would think. But then again the people running these forums could care less. After all There are forum moderators buying from these same people who are ripping people off. Sends a message but the wrong one.

Care more about gaining some money than anything else in life!
They have no pride in themselves and no honor, or concept of what it means to feel honorable.
Looks like this guy is among the few!
He should be banned for the protection of other members.
This is not a misunderstanding-it's a crook.
