If you're up by lake Michigan, there's got to be a lot of campgrounds, right?
 
Sorry about being off limits to your detecting it! Could be someone else or maybe the owner has exclusive rights in getting whatever goodies are found of that which can't be returned to rightful owners!
 
It is only off limits due to the cold water. Every piece of beach on lake Michigan is legal to hunt up to the high water mark. Still too cold to hunt on my side of the state also.
