Update on prayer request for family members in hospitals

Mother-in-law may wind up being committed and the power of attorney my sister-in-law had was never turned in to make it legal - leaving us without a way of protecting her, her home or anything else. Her husband Ed - even his own kids refuse to do anything for him but take his money - we don't know what will happen to him. The house worth over $170,000 that should go to the daughters (Sherry and Gwen) will probably be lost to back taxes since no one has a power of attorney to act on her behalf. Don't even know if she ever drew up a will.

My step-mother was scheduled to get a feeding tube - she refused the operation. My Dad is fearful he will lose her.

My sister-in-law, thank God, is getting better (she has 2 small girls and a husband - all Christians). They have a lot to live for.

Guess the other 2 have pretty much given up on themselves to let things be the way they are.

My Dad says Barb only eats a couple of spoonfuls of mashed potatoes a day. We feel she isn't long for this world.

Wish I had lots of great news but this is all I have for good news (sister-in-law).

May God have mercy on my mother-in-law and step-mother. I pray they will be redeemed before it is too late.

Keep hope in that God knows what you and them are going through and will work it all out by allowing Him to do what is best for all!

God Bless!

The one who supposedly had the power of attorney made up is the one that may be locked away in a sanitarium and we can't help her and she may live a long life such as it is. The power of attorney was to help her in case she was not able to make rational decisions - for herself, for her husband and for her estate if she were to have to sell her home for some reason. We don't even know if she ever made a will so all she has may be lost. Not that we as Christians put a lot into material things but hate to see her beautiful home be taken away and her busband shoved off into some nursing home and forgotten.

Sorry to hear of all the health troubles and glad that your sister-in-law is doing much better. Know that you and your family are in my prayers.

there is someone to take care of things and make sure the taxes are paid then everything should be okay! Under the circumstances someone close to them should see a lawyer and have something done quickly about being able to see after her and everyone and everything! May cost unless going through public assistance but it is better than losing all! If she dies without a will most states will be or will appoint an executor and settle everything but maybe not according to what a person would have it and that's why a will should be written and/or power-of-attorney should be empowered if the family isn't able to care for themselves!

Check with an attorney and see what can be done! I don't believe it is too late to have something done to protect her, him and all the property!

Also, if she is able to write her name and you could have a lawyer there and a bank assistant to sign for someone responsible to be able to use check book, banking, and/or safe deposit box and etc. We were able to do this with dad after mom died and he could hardly write or remember anything, as he was very ill and I do believe he had Alzhiemers!

God Bless!
Betty
