Update on Excal coil repair.......................................

Success!!!!!
The coil is back in action, the threshhold is once more stable, and sounding like its own self. I took it out in the yard and checked three coins scattered on the ground, it detected, located, held tone, then switched tone smoothly between pennies and nickels.
I question if it has the sensitivity it had before, seems to have lost an inch or so, but only a water trial can determine that.
But for now at least, it's back in my stable of water units. the Sovereign has been doing a super back up job, but it sure goes through AA batteries. I may have to go with rechargeables there.
Heres a couple pictures of the test. (no comments on the white sox, I LIKE them!!)

The best part is you saved yourself a bunch of loot and didn't lose your detector for the rest of the season by having it sitting in the repair shop.

Brilliant,

Nice job on the repair. Let's hope the water test is successful and the first target is gold!
