Update on CTX screen issue.

Last week my CTX developed a grey streak on the left side of the screen. I was hunting today and then it dawned on me, it was gone, WTH!!! The quote was $190 plus shipping, I was going to ship it in after this weekend because I wanted to use it on my 3 day weekend. I got home, turned it on, it's back! I'm wondering what in the world is going on here. For some reason I decided to turn the back light off and sure enough it doesn't show up when the back light is off. My thought is, I don't hunt with it on, so, I think I'll wait to send it in for now. I'll call Minelab Monday and describe what's going on with my machine and see if Marty has any idea what's causing it.

its the common fault in the PCB with the back light off its gone, light on its back same thing happened to mine sure everyone else's is the same need a new PCB to fix it.

Person can buy a lot of those lights that mount on their head for $190 bucks,,,I say keep using it till she drops.

Hard part to swallow is on resale however.
I'd send it back so I could say I had a factory checked machine if I wanted to sell it.

I'll most certainly send it in short order. I'm just glad the problem is confined to having the back light on. I'm glad I waited to do it though, I'm having a pretty good weekend so far. Pics coming later.

I'm wondering if the streak is gone when the back-light is off or its just harder to see with the light off. Seems strange the PCB would react to the back-lighting in this way?

The screen is completely clear and the cursor is clearly visible when the back light is off. The streak is different now than when I took the first picture last week, the shape has shifted somewhat.

Any chance of a picture of the problem screen?......matt

p.s. Do you think there are any issues with condensation ?

Cold environments to warm etc.?

I see this a bit ob LCD screens and quite often it is just a connector issue.

If the PCB and or drivers go, then the symptoms are some what different...

And as posted else where on the forum, it seems that some have left the LCD protector on when installing and thus with the main screen protector you could also get what appears to be bubbles and or streaking due to teh Optical properties of two or more different types of screen protectors being in place..

Sounds like a Batch/Assembly/Repair process that has not been fully documented - Quality :)
