Update on baby Jessica and a prayer request!.......

Dear friends and family,

Due to a cancellation, baby Jessie was able to see the genetic specialist today. And wow has she ever grown! In 8 weeks time, she has gained 3 1/2 pounds and grown 3 1/2 inches. Isn't that amazing that the same little one who had trouble eating is now growing like crazy?! The doctors once again have given us good news. There are no signs of a chromosomal defect. They see no signs of mental retardation or even of her being slow. With the physical signs, they have been treating her all ready. PTL! This is truly a relief for us. The Lord has granted us so much strength in the past few weeks, it is hard to describe.

So--after many tests, the doctors have determined 4 things.
1- There is a name for this syndrome, but the doctors are all ready helping her with the physical difficulties.
2- She has a moderate hearing loss in her left ear.
3- There are 3 vertebrates that didn't develop correctly in her spine. We have to wait and see how she grows to
know what will happen
4- Her kidneys are swollen. There are "issues" to be addressed. We will learn more in the next couple of weeks.
At the same time, the doctors seem hopeful that they can help Jessica with each "problem."

Once again, we want to thank all of you for praying. Your phone calls and emails have been appreciated. Recently, some one told us that the doctors said all these things at birth so that it would not be as bad when the final diagnosis was given. Personally, we DO NOT believe that at all. WE BELIEVE THAT GOD IS JESSICA'S JEHOVAH RAPPA. Jehovah Rappah is Hebrew for God is a healer. We believe that God is healing our little girl because of the many prayers sent by all of you. And He deserves all the glory.

There is another Jessie Bartholomew we would appreciate prayer for. This is Rod's Grandma. She has cancer on the lower part of her lung. She is having surgery to remove the lower lobe of her lung. This will be a painful surgery. She would appreciate your prayers as well.

Rod and Tena
