What operating system are you using? This problem exists if using Windows 7. To fix/work around it run Windows 7 in Windows XP compatibility mode.
 
Running windows 7 Thanks Altamaha not sure what you mean by running Windows 7 in Windows XP compatibility mode?
 
Use a friend's modern computer to do it.
