A while back I read here about a problem with the XLT, with lines across the screen. well it happened to mine. and it progressed until the screen was just all white. this really got me. I have had this machine around 15 years and have had no problem at all with it. I really did not know what to do. I even though about getting another detector. But after reading here about it, I called whites and they said sent it to us and we'll take care of it. So off on ups it went, I figured that it was going to be a long time gone and expensive. It was gone a total of about 2 weeks, and when i got the call from whites, I figured the old check book would be drained. They told me that they had replaced the lcd, installed a new screen cover, replaced the cables, reattached the control box, It was a little loose. updated the firm ware from 1.0 to 1.1, installed a new set of battery's. and completely gave it a tune up and tested everything.
Well with all of that I could just see the dollar signs rolling up. When she told me the total was $83.21 and that was with shipping, I had to ask her 3 times to make sure I was hearing it correctly. UPS arrived today, and as I inspected it not only had they done what was told to me on the phone. but they had also replaced the arm cup and strap and new feet on the bottom of the control box at no charge.
This was my first time using Whites service and support. And that is exactly what I got Service and Support. I am elated with Whites, so many times when an item has to be sent in for repairs, dealing with a company is like your putting them out that they even have to speak to you let alone do an honest repair for a reasonable price. This was not the case here with Whites. all of the people I spoke to were friendly and happy to talk to you and help. Now my machine is back and as good as new. If any one ever has a problem with there detector, don't worry, and dread about it, don't think that it will cost more to repair than getting a lower quality replacement, just call Whites and let them do there magic. I was treated very well. Now that's what I call Service.

A very good service department, is worth the purchess price of a detector alone sometimes. Nice to read that they went above and beyond to treat you right..
