Posted in the X-Terra Forum Though I would also post her for fellow relic hunters.

I was hunting private land in area of Cloyds Mountain Battlefield and recovered a confederate two-ringer and a 58 cal Yankee three -ringer from the same hole. The two bullets were lying side by side at 9" and were recovered with a X-Terra-70 using the 10.5 DD MF coil. I have recovered a lot of civil war bullets but never a blue and gray from the same hole. Should have added that bullet directly over the two-ringer is the 58 cal bullet. There is a clear ram rod mark in the bullet. The second pic show the ram rod mark. The other three ringer was recovered just pryor to above recovery.

The 2 ring is a Gardner, definitly confederate. Remember that confederates also used 3 ring minnie balls. Now if both are fired and came from the same hole that is unusual no matter what type they are. I have found fired bullets a foot or so apart, but I dont recall digging 2 fired bullets in the same hole.

hey tom, that is a NEAT find indeed. i found a pair like that one time too. my only guess is that the battlelines were static, back and forth, and soldiers of both sides occupied that same piece of ground. wtg, and hh!
