:unsure:Threshold tone of Tiger Shark

I just received my new Tiger Shark. I was setting it up and air testing. I could never get the threshold to hold a steady HUM. It just pulsated like a buzzing bee. Is this normal? All of the other machines I have (Garrett GTI 1500, Sovereign GT and Excall) have a steady Hum. I just want someone experinced with this machine to tell me what a normal threshold should sound like. Any info would be appreciated.

I have a Tesoro Deleon and it does the same thing ,I thought something was wrong with it but it seems to be inherent of the Tesoro threshold. I have always been a big fan of the company but when I try to get the minimum threshold audio I receive a fading in and out tone as though there is a short in the circuit. As with you, it is very hard to conceive of a threshold of this nature and it will take some getting used to.

I mentioned the same thing about my Tejon a couple of posts down. The threshold hum can best be described as pulsating or wave-like. Loud-soft-loud-soft.

I would be interested in hearing from more Tesoro owners of different models to see if this is a standard Tesoro threshold.

Hi Kobo,
I'm considering sale of my 1280x to purchase a tiger.
Do you think this erratic threshold will cause a problem with perhaps identifying a null?
Seems as if this has been mentioned before... has anyone contacted tesoro about this to see what they say?

I plan on contacting them after the holidays and will let you know what they say. They have been closed for the week.

Better have them checked out. I have a Tiger Shark, purchased it last year NEW, STEADY threshold ..... :tesoro::detecting:
Forgot to state I also have a Toltec II, steady threshold also.

The Tejon electronics are pushed to the edge and the result is a slightly wavering threshold. When we were testing the proto machines the first ones were real deep but we didnt like the wavering threshold so we asked Tesoro to smooth it out, but keep the great depth. The reply we got was, that we couldnt have both. To get the best depth out of the Tejon, we would have to put up with a shaky threshold. We he told us we had a choice, we both said: "give us the depth" and thats why the Tejon has a shaky threshold. But the other Tesoro machines should NOT have wavering or pulsating thresholds. If they do, the machine is picking up interference from something. Dont forget to try turning off your cell phone too. There have been some guys claiming their cell phones interfere with their machines. If you remove all outside interference and are in a totally neutral area and your machine threshold still pulses (except the Tejon), then there may be something wrong with your machine and you should contact Tesoro.

My Tejon does the same thing at about 2:O'Clock, at 3 steady tone. My V, is wavy at about 12 O'Clock, I think they hunt good there, I can better distinguish a deep target in all metal than if I had it up to a steady tone.
