Unorthodox find

MrGee

New member
Last week I realized that I have found 49 wheat pennys this summer and I REALLY wanted to find number 50. Since we've been having unseasonably warm weather, I'v been out every day after work making the rounds of all the parks one last time. LOts of pennys but all memorials. So tonight I'm on my way out to yet another park but I stop at the grocery store first. I pull out some change to pay for it and right on top in my hand is a 1953D wheatie. Must have gotten it in change somewhere yesterday. So I don't care what you say - it's mine,I found it and I'm counting it!!!!!!!!!! YeAAAAH number 50.

MrGee

:usaflag:I was in McDonalds with my kids the other day, and my silver radar went off. Next to the cash register, sitting in the (see-thru) donation box for Ronald McDonald House, was a cherry '64 washington McQuarter. I offered the cashier a five dollar bill in trade, but apparently only the manager has the key, and they were'nt there at the time. Oh well...I hope someone else is wise enough to set it aside.

I was in the bank with my wife several months ago while she was setting up her own checking account, and one of the cashiers dropped her change tray. Seeing as how we were setting at a desk behind her, I could see all the coins as they scattered across the floor, I immediately embarrassed my wife by asking the cashier if I could give her a quarter for the silver dime lying about 15 feet away. Once the bank manager came out, and helped her pick everything up he gave it to me for just a dime. So I know all about that Silver radar. It took my wife at least an hour to get over it however.

:usaflag:Yeah...banks are'nt allowed to profit in that sort of way. Law requires them to only trade at face value. Good for us !

My wife is pretty accepting of my coin collecting mania, and she is not easily embarassed...lol.

I actually have "scouts"....who work at the local gas station and the off-sale liquor store...who are constantly looking for old coins for me. One guy had someone come in and drop a 1997-S proof dime on the counter. I got that one in a 2X2 flip now
