Can anyone tell me if this is a civil war button or a revolutionary button. I found it in a park yesterday.

Very nice button. Just by going by the front, it looks to be a General Staff button from the 1850-60s. Do you have a picture of the back?...........
 
No, I can have one tomorrow, it is too dark in the house and the flash washes it out.

You can just tell us what is on the back and that will usually date the button by who the maker is and how the company name is spelled out.
