Unknown shot shells

Has anyone seen this shell before ?, as I sure haven't. The base is iron and the thin rolled brass casing is very different. I have found the much thicker full brass Winchester cases before, and a few huge 4 gauge market gun cases, but these are a first. The base looks to be 16 or 20 gauge. I dug up about 30-40 of them then tired of it. The soil in this one spot is polluted with them.

What writing or marks are on the base ?.
Looks to be old though.

Those shells are pretty cool! I've never seen anything like it...must have been some kind of target practice area? Or a dove or duck blind type of deal for so many to be in one location? More likely dove on account of the 16-20 gauge which is a bit light for ducks and the great amount...if they dropped and left those, I wonder what else may have fallen out of their pocket? Nice score there Chris!:clapping:
