Unknown Iron Plate Dug Up on the Bank of the Tennessee River in Knoxville, Tennessee.

I Dug this Iron Plate up on the Bank of the Tennessee River in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Iron Plate is 8" x 7" and weighs 5 Pounds & 3 Ounces. I have no idea what it is or how old it is. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, I would have never guessed that, since there are no Railroad tracks near where I found it. So glad for your reply, have been wondering what it was ever since I found it.

No seriously, trot lines require a heavy weight on one end, the other would be tied to a tree on the bank. It would hold the 100 to 300 lb line in place in current. 60lb cats are not uncommon when you are really fishin'!
