Hi all,
I recently found a gold ring ( my first!) while metal detecting but can not identify the markings on the ring (after many google and website searches). It was found in Alberta, Canada. I was wondering if anyone is more experienced with gold ring identification and could offer some guidance on the piece. The”ET” is a different script than the “10K” but I cannot find any information on the hallmark. I’m hoping maybe one of my fellow forum members with a keen eye or more experience may identify something on the piece that could even help me narrow down the search - such as the design of the gold loops that the diamond setting sits on - or, the setting itself... might indicate if it’s handmade, or its approximate age etc. I eventually will take it in to jeweller if I can’t find answers... but I think the research part really helps me learn so I welcome any insights any of you may have!
Additional info:
* first mark says 10K
* second mark is the unknown - it looks like the initials ET enclosed in a partial oval
* performed a diamond test and it was positive
* performed acid test and was positive (although it seemed to be sitting closer to 14k)
*** checked local lost and found and no listings for item.
