I’ve only been detecting for a month or so. Just found this button in Plymouth Massachusetts near the ocean hoping somebody knows the time period. Thanks!
 
I would say colonial if there are no makers marks on it. I would go back to that place and dig down to check for soil layers. The good stuff may be further down. Peace Roy
