Found this button in the plowed fields on Long Island, NY where I have been finding pre to post Revolutionary items including coins dating to 1750's and colonial buckles, etc.
There is definite fleur de lis pattern on the front - but cannot make out the words on the back...
Possibly French military from colonial times.
 
can you make out anything on back mark any letters together will identify it
