Union County NJ parks - anyone know if

metal detecting is allowed. I was told by a park police "no metal detectors in any Union County parks". Anyone know anything about this.
 
parks Dept. and was told no metal detecting, and no permits are issued. Reason given was they don't want holes in the grass and there may be historical relics there.
