Under water detecting?

I know a place where 15,000 confederate troops camped that has been under about 12-15 feet of lake water since the 1930's. I was wondering where i could find info on under water detecting? I live 100 yards from the site. Any info will be greatly appreciated!

Beach and scuba detecting forum they should be able to help ya!

Guntersville Lake perhaps? You may want to check out any regulations if it is TVA...I knew some mussel divers down there and they found all sorts of stuff while looking for mussels. Lots of skirmishes and historical documentation in the area as well, heck, the Spanish (Desoto I think) traveled through that valley and accidentally gave smallpox to the natives, killed 10,000 indians in that valley alone they figure. John Gunter had a fur trading post, and then the lake was built in the 30's for electrification of the South...I always wanted to hookah the old ferry crossings but never did...theres gotta be some pretty old stuff under that water.

Thanks that was interesting to read Mudpuppy!

12-15 feet of lake water you will have about 18" or more of mud and silt. If you live 100 yards from the site i would be digging up my backyard.
