Uncut ruby???

Posting this for my hunting buddy,he found this with his deus in some old woods filled with stone walls and walking paths.
It looks to be gold plated and very old.
He's been kicking my butt with his Deus,and that's why I'm ordering mine tonite!!
Just a guess on the ruby,it is very crudely cut and unpolished.

Very nice! Tell your friend good job! It seems odd to have an uncut stone in the setting. Is it possible the stone shifted from its original position? Do you see any green coming through the gold (trying to determine if it's plated or filled)? If it rang up like a penny or slightly below, chances are its not solid gold...but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your buddy. Also, congrats on your new purchase! What machine(s) are you currently using?

Hey beep,,the gold plating is peeling off of the bottom of the ring where you can see its rotten and broken.
The stone appears to be a pink rock,but unpolished. Sorry about the pics but the iPad doesn't take great pictures.
I have been running Garret's for about 7 or 8 years now,my first being a gtp1350. I then graduated to a gti 2500. And I also run a Fisher cz20 in the water.
I can't wait for my Deus to arrive,I bought a ws4 with both coils and a pair of Vance phones from Jeremy Vance ,and I gotta say he's a great guy to deal with.i feel I got a great deal from him. Hopefully I'll be posting some nice finds of my own soon. HH
