How do you neatly recover a coin that is down 5 or 6 inches with only a screwdriver? I can pop out coins that are 1 or 2 inches down using that method but below that I generally make a mess of things when I try to recover that way.

If I am careful with my Lesche, it it almost impossible to tell I've been hunting a spot.

Chris, I do the same as you. I pop down to 4", but cut a plug past that.

I use a big screwdriver and place the handle of my probe under it for a fulcrum and just pry it up. Course that is in soft, moist, dirt I use Stan's EZ Digger once in awhile which has a sliding fulcrum on it for prying coins up.

Bill.

Also on deeper coins in ground that isn't so soft I cut a slit with my knife right alongside the target then flip the target into the slit, retrieve it, step on the slit and the slit is gone.
