If a fellow wants to hunt in the water he should buy the waterproof headphones as with the price of this unit seems to be a steal compared to many other manufacturers prices...
I think some of my posts have been taken out of context and just want to clear this issue up.
The problem I have is many have their favorite headphones and would need an adaptor to use. Seems like previous units I have used as long as headphones are used which seems to be the
vulnerable area good to go in a light rain if unit is weather resistant..I would hate to see a top of the line(favorite) headphone sit in the corner and use a midline headphone so whether Garrett sells them or supplies them this is an issue to many. I reread the ad several times and this issue is not addressed and an adaptor is not listed as an accessory so only time will tell.
Any experienced hunter carries a spare in his trunk so whether one buys the adaptor or an extra set of applicable headphones is their call..Honestly just trying to get all the info on the new kid on the block which is only natural and no way knocking Garrett as they make good units and have used a bunch of their various models over the years with excellent results..

Personally, I've found the Garrett headphones to be just your average cheap POS 'phones. To be fair, the same goes for White's and, AFAIK, other manufacturers. Uncomfortable andjust plain shoddy; I have a non-funtioning pair (my 2nd) that came with another dtector kicking about. How 'bout Garrett providing both a long and short adapter cable instead? I'll just end up cutting the end off and making my own.. then use my EAT phones or the Killer B's. ..Willy.
