i just got a BOUNTY HUNTER 202 from my brother for x-mas and cant wait to get out there! i just dont know how well it will work out at the beach. it did well in the sugar sand near my folks house in central florida. but i live in broward county and want to see what the beaches have to offer. i also made some phone calls to historical sites here and have gotten permission from 2 of them to use my detector on the property so im really pumped. ive been reading and veiwing about the finds everyone here uncovers and it makes me optimistic. if theres any advice id love it. i want to get a waterproof detector but dont have much money to spend any opinions would be great, thanks for reading.

I'm not familiar with the Bounty Hunters, but welcome to the forum I'm sure someone here will have the answer to your question. Congrats on the 2 sites!!! sounds like a great time.

Your detector is only as good as you are. Time, patience and learn your machine and you will find plenty of treasures.

Hey there, If you are reasonably close to beaches, (Salt or Fresh), then your in for a good chance. I would suggest you drive to the beaches you want to detect. You will see where the people congregate, usually in front of or close to lifeguard towers. If you use good technique you'll do good. I pick the area I want to detect, I then detect TO the area,(always swing, some of my best finds have been on the way to an area, or walking back to the car), pick an area that incorperates the heavy traffic areas, a large rectangle or square pattern is best. Drag a chain or scoop or a leg behind you to mark where you have been. Then slightly overlapping each swing continue to grid the area properly in lines. You'll find that other people don't grid like this and you can go behind them and pick up a gold mine! I've done this at Surfers Paradise after 5 to 7 people had already detected detected the very same 300m square area. I got $80, a silver mens ring, a silver man's bracelet:41.1 grams, a digital cmera, a mobile phone, and a small Platinum wedding band, I got $127 at scrap price for it. Low and slow, grid diligently, never give up, and believe in yourself, and your machine. I had to detect for 2yrs before I could afford to buy an Infinium LS for scuba, and creeks and rivers. You will have many good finds if you persist, if your detector is falsing on the wet sand turn your sensitivity down. Also maintaining a constant coil height and swing speed will see the falsing dramatically reduced too. I wish you all the best, HH regards Nugget.:)
