uMax mods to fit childeren

I was wondering if there are anyone who has ever made any mods to a uMax so that smaller kids can use them. By smaller I mean 6-8 year olds. I know that the compadre used to come with a straight rod that was fitted more for kids.

Does anyone have a old Compadre that has that configuration?

Right now I have a sidewinder that I do not want to alter too much as it is my competition machine.

The detector you referred to as the old Compadre was the Amigo II, basically a Compadre in a different housing and with a different pole setup. As for making a detector fit a child, a relatively easy way is to get an extra lower pole and cut it off to fit his height. The clip will have to be taken out and new holes drilled for it, and it takes a little time to swap the coil to the short pole, but it works well.
