:super: Well,it took me a while, but I finally found my first gold coin,10 francs Napoleon III,1866,minted at Strasbourg (double B under laurel wreath) still a bit of dirt on it,came out of the soil like that-now for a gold Roman.

I am jealous. What machine?

:) Don't be jealous,I'm lucky enough to live in an area with thousands of years of history,in fact I'm surprised I don't find more, even though the people who lived here in the past were extremely poor and bartered rather than paid cash for things (e.g. half a calf for a new roof,5% of the corn for grinding the flour etc) I have an XP Deus but a Garret Ace 150 would have found it,thank you all for your comments.

Awesome find, next you will be digging a Roman Aureus!
