All these were found with a old C -SCOPE model vlf / tr 750 D built 1980. Maximum coin detection depth with this old detector is is 4 inches (5 inches at a push).

Why use a machine that was not that good in 1980 when you have XLT/DFX ?
I rarely get to detect school grounds as they just will not let any digging take place unless re seeding is taking place. When I can get on I use the best equipment to take maximum advantage.

If money is very tight a 1980 detector is better than NO DETECTOR.
ALSO IF ONE LIKE DETECTING, UPGRADES WILL HAPPEN.
I STARTED WITH A Jetco Mustang BFO now I have six detectors from my Prizm to my gold killer GP3500.
The key is any detector is a good detector.Anyone using them will learn something about or hobbie.MOST PEOPLE USING DETECTORS ARE GOOD PEOPLE

These were found by me a friend of mine in the eighty's with his 750 D , Some gold rings and silver rings were found too. All i am saying brian is that even "crap detectors" cab find on un worked sites, and yes the school fields where these coins were found are now out of bounds for detecting as are most school fields and parks as you know.
I dumped another 3 kg of pre decimal a few years ago as they are totally worthless apart from a small scrap value. The guy who i detected with has sadly died recently so i thought i would post these coins we found as a long gone memory of his detecting skills, he became a master with this cheapo c -scope and could winkle coins out from all over the place. Rip Gordon.......

You want to talk about crap detectors. I have one of those toy looking Radioshack detectors I got back in the 80s. All it ever found was a farm plow.

I finally broke down and brought a Fisher CZ-3D. It should be arriving in the mail today.

Some great detectors were made in the late 80's , don't dismiss them all. The biggest improvement it seems with modern detectors is the better depth in discrimination. The explorers win on this score with a really good ability to id at good depth.
