Brian made and decorated the first birthday cake, complete with an eyepatch that I occasionally wear. Carol had the second cake made by her sister.

I came home from work last night and was surprised to see the driveway full of cars, people and gas grills. Carol had sprung a surprise party for me and I didn't have a clue!! She even invited all of my old buddies of which two were able to come...what a great surprise. The weather was perfect with very little humidity and no wind so after dinner we started a fire in the fire pit and sat around talking, eating cake, drinking coffee and enjoying the fire until around 11pm. My birthday is the 15th so it won't be official until then.

I noticed Brian put a beard on your face......do ya have a beard? Do you have a lazy eye and have to wear your patch once in awhile? One of my great-grandson's had a lazy and he wore a patch and kept removing it! Jennifer had a hard time getting him to leave it on! :blink: I think his eye is okay now though! :)

...it was a nice surprise and the cakes were delicious. No, I don't have a beard and I'm not sure what those were for. I have an artificial right eye and sometimes the socket gets irritated and I take it out for a few days so I wear an eyepatch.

Thank you Pete. We have had so much rain that it didn't pose a problem. Plus we burn fires in an approved fire pit that we bought at the hardware store. Last year, there was an open fire ban about all summer because it was so dry.
 
Thanks Joe!!! They started coming about 6 months ago and I just shake my head and toss them. As soon as I admit to myself that I'm old and they don't have me confused with my father I'll open one!!
