I thought I'd post a picture of this unusual item I found last week in Fairfax, VA. Although the picture is not the best, it is definitely a coiled "snake" and is gilted...very simlilar to the coating on a nice NY coat button. The snake's head, eye, and scales are clearly formed. By its weight and general shape it seems to be made of shaped/molded lead and that was then coated. I found it just feet from the 69 caliber three ringer. I also found some melted lead nearby. I'd love to know if anyone has any insight on this. My best guess is that it something informally created during down time at camp...who knows??? Thanks, Scaper.
