You got 15 to 16 inches on gold rings and only 12 inches on a large three ringer? That seems a bit strange to me.
The large 10k and the lead ball should read about the same depth 4 inches is a large difference.

Not at all....hole items like rings, pull tabs, washers etc always give a nice signal. A lead ball with oxides on it also plays an effect.
 
John still seems strange 4 inches is a lot. I will have one soon I hope strangely warm here in the mountains of TN almost 70 today.
If I get it soon I will get out and do some hunting with it.
