just bought a compadre and was wondering is the 5.75" coil as good as the 7" coil?whats the average depth for the compadre with the 5.75" coil?any feed back appreciated.:clapping:

I was out tonight with my Compadre that I purchased a few weeks ago.

I have the 5.75 coil on mine and let me tell ya... I get plenty of depth.
I hit the baseball field tonight and had a whole bunch of clad with just
about a 2 hr hunt. I got plenty of nickels, pennies, dimes, quarters.

I hunt with my setting just past iron.

I'm getting another detector with a larger coil for the bigger areas.

Overall, I'm impressed with the Compadre! It's a keeper!

I originally started detecting using a Compadre with the 7" coil. Later sold it as I added other models to my arsenal. I wish I'd kept it. as to "better" than the 5.75? maybe a touch deeper and a bit more coverage, but I'm thinking the 5.75" loses little, comparatively. I happen to be a big fan of the 7" concentric on my other Tesoro models as it handles trash a bit better than the larger coils and has pretty decent depth and is pleasant to swing. In fact, over the years as I've gained experience, I've come to prefer standard and smaller coils over large ones unless I'm trying to cover some pretty large, open, trash free areas. From all the favorable positngs, it appears that the Compadre with the 5.75 coil is a winner.

Your depth will match the 7" no problem.

I'll get 6 inches on mine easily.

Go take it out by a metal fence and concreat slabs and tot lot posts, you will see , what it can do

I have been able to find things as deep as I care to dig with the 5.75" coil Compadre. Right around 5-7". Some larger targets like a quarter around 8". Found a silver ring today on my hunt. When I started to pull up my plug and a little of the ring pulled up to the surface. I was grinning ear to ear. This was my 4th silver piece of jewelry in 5 short hunts. I love the Compadre. I also found a quarter that had been in the ground for a while. Enjoy your new Compadre. It is a hard one to put down. HH
