Two toned target turns out to be gold

Not many targets in the Gulf near me, really are sanded in pretty good but one target I had gave me two tones, must have been its orientation to the coil. This ring is 14k yellow gold with a white gold square holding 5 diamonds. Interestingly, when you air test the ring and present the square face to the coil, you get a high tone (like silver) yet when you go across the width of the ring, you get mostly a midtone. When I first heard the target, I got two tones and totally expected to find another piece of canslaw... it was a nice surprise. Air tests go from a 12-22 though a 12-37 dependant on distance and ring orientation to the coil...

You must be digging all repeatable signals then? That's a nice find for sure. Are you running the CTX submerged? I ask because of your avatar photo.

I use a totally wide open screen, nothing blocked out... I dig all good sounding repeatable signals....and iron/lousy signals when my swing arm needs a rest or if there aren't many targets. When/IF we get some sand movement and more targets, I'll run some discrimination.
I am running the CTX submerged and have well over 200 hours with it totally submerged.... no problems so far.

This set up will give you killer depths on your ctx. I use it on very old sites after Gfh setting s. I find a lot of stuff left over . Its a catch all program just dig the clean tones .

hello everyone I was interested to hear of your double tone on such a large ring,i have been using my ctx on a wet sand beach that has a large part which is lower than the rest and also loads of iron in amongst all this I have found six rings two gold one gold on silver and three junk rings none of these were above four grams but they all gave me a double signal and this made me wonder why that should be I know a coin on edge will do this and maybe a ring on edge but could all these rings have been on edge I don't know but it seems strange.i use a combined two tone mode with response normal

I have not found a single ring with my ctx yet and have 7 months use on it. I do inland sites though and rings are like rocking horse crap - rare ...

Rings will come in time, like anything else, your odds are increased with where you hunt. I primarily beach hunt but prior to my move to the beach, I worked inland lakes and had my share of freshwater rings and jewelry.
