Two tone ferrous

New member
I seen a post the other night, a member said he was using 2 tone ferrous and did two videos using these setting. So I tried it on the beach here in southern California in the wet sand with lots of nails and big iron with my 6" coil. Found 30 coins, dimes, nickles and quarters. I had just went over the same spot with the 11" , combined, open screen, top bin 1200 hz the bottom bin at 130 hz. Area worked was about 30' by 20' . The coins rang out loud and the iron was softer. The numbers give you the yeah or nay to dig or not. He said he didn't use trace, but I did and it worked great for me. I don't remember his post name but he is really on to something here and I will use this setting a lot. My hats off to him, Gene

P.S. I found 5 silver dimes during this hunt, oldest being 1927 Merc.

I saw the vid also, and want to try it...Did you make your own program or load one?

Here is my freshwater beach two tone ferrous mode for the CTX3030 based on Keith's instructions on the video for hunting freshwater beaches:

Glad it worked out well for you. But honestly, I would guess that your success had more to do with the size of the coil than how many tones you had available. Both TTF and Combined divide the targets into two groups. You determine at what FE value these two groups are divided by where you set your Ferrous line. TTF assigns one tone for the target's whose Ferrous number falls below where you set your Ferrous line, and one tone for the targets whose Ferrous number goes above the Ferrous line. Combined does the same thing. However, instead of having just one tone for the targets whose values are above the Ferrous line, it breaks those targets into four groups and gives you one of four tones, depending on the CO value of each target.
On the other hand, if your area was filled with nails and big iron, there is no doubt that the 6-inch coil is a coin killer! Regardless, glad you are willing to experiment with the functionality. JMHO HH Randy

Hi guys and gals

For Chadwick, I used the same setup as on his video, except I use trace also. For Wildoutdoors, I made my own off of his settings. Yes I have been off the forum for awhile, thanks for the welcome back. I'll post some pic's of the super nice big diamond ring I found two months ago. I thought for years it always happened to everyone else, but one day bang! Looked in the scoop and there it was diamonds everywhere. It had a one and a half carat on top, a half carat on each side, twenty six small blue safires, and twelve small diamonds set in 12K , 15 minutes later I found a 18K with half carat ruby and 22 small diamonds, I went home one happy camper. Will post pic soon as I size it down to forum sizes. Thanks to all, Gene

Thanks a lot and wow I would still be in shock sounds like a great day for you. My wife and I will be going to a elementary school soon and giving like a show an tell .We have been hunting a old 1800s farmstead and will be showing all of our fines so far. We was there saturday and she found a gold ring that was really small it had W.D.C.O inscribed on the inside. Its really bugging me because the ring is very small kinda like a toe ring but it was in the middle of a hay field in Bfe lol

Maybe it was a child's ring? I found my first ring last night, sterling, at a playground. It had been re sized to a child's size. What numbers to do look at when relic hunting old farm sights if any?
