Two tone ferrous and discrimination...

Are you using discrimination or what amount are you using? Let's post pro's and con's of yes and no. I was using no disc this morning and the ferrous was beating the drum really! I've seen where some are using 2 tone F and no disc at all. I'm not getting any advantage because of the F drum beating vs the null of a disc program to be able to get those hard to find targets seems like.

The machine will hit a conductive target next to a ferrous target better faster with both giving a signal verses the ferrous target giving a null in many cases. The machine does get very busy/noisy in ferrous wide open all metal for sure.If you disc out the ferrous nails you may as well be in conductive 4 or multi tone and have better tone/audio feedback.

Some of the older posts are no longer online but a slightly expanded (in proportion) relic pattern works wonders at unmasking good targets in iron. Without it the iron can overpower the non-ferrous signal making the iron all you see or hear. Some disagree but I have found it to be absolutely amazing, outperforming every other detector. You'll notice the same thing when you use a small disc pattern and then switch to pinpoint... sometimes the iron will takeover in AM pinpoint. You can also see it by using a relic type pattern, ferrous/2-tone and then switching to an open screen on QM... you will notice that you no longer will have interesting F/C numbers but instead you will have a high ferrous number indicating IRON.

Try it for yourself in a "hunted out" park... you'll see what I mean.

I agree totally with Andy... the E-TRAC benefits from some disc and suffers from no disc at all.

BYW, Iam really liking the SEF 8x6 and 12x10 coils... they are NICE!!!

I tried the FTT in a real trashy park it was a little overwhelming?so my thoughts are maybe better in less trashy say corn or country fields, would you agree?

Silvereagle,
I've just started getting into ttf after two yrs of swing time with the etrac and it seems to once again open up those old spots.
The noice overload is less when I use a smaller coil and a slower swing....your still going to hear the same # of Fe targets, but it just makes it more manageable. Try this and hit those trashy parks.

i love the relic program with a few adjustments....i really only pay attention to the CO values...just dug a 1814 halfbust silver and the #'s 07-45....less discrimination the better, i think....just make sure you waatch the sensativity and adjust accordingly along with noise cancel every 30 minutes.....ginger

I've been using 2TF for approx. 6 months now - it's the only program I use - anywhere.

About a month ago I loaded Terry's - "Goes4ever" version of the 2TF program - you can find details on this program in the Findmall forums and other forums.
Terry also did a step by step with photo's of how to load this program in one of the newest issues of - "Ohio Metal Detecting" magazine - you can Google search and order this magazine on line.

This program works very well and it really quiets the iron hits down !

There you go...!!!!
